Activate My Web Space

The form on this page is used to tell Imagen to activate your web space if one is included with your account. 

To complete this form you will need to know.... :

  • Your Username  (All Imagen customers have a username and password)

  • The username or other details of your website producer. (You may also choose for your website to be produced by Imagen by selecting "Managed By Imagen".)

Please take the time to read the description of any field that you do not completely understand.

Step 1:  Web Site Owner Information      The web site owner is the individual who owns the site.  This is the same the account name that we have on record for you.

User Name:  The username of the site owner.  Every account has a username and a password. Your username is normally the same as the first part of your email address.  If you do not know your username click here or see the example below.

i.e.  jsmith not  (John Smith or jsmith@gulfislands.com)
i.e. jdoe not (John Doe or jdoe@saltspring.com)

Step 2:  Web Site Configuration Information

Domain:   

A web site address consists of three parts http://Domain/Folder/file

NB we no longer offer webs underneath gulfislands.com or saltspring.com

Please select one of the following options:

gabriola.gulfislands.com/foldername

galiano.gulfislands.com/foldername

mayne.gulfislands.com/foldername

pender.gulfislands.com/foldername

saltspring.gulfislands.com/foldername

Eg:  if your username is "bgates" and you selected the saltspring.gulfislands.com option above, your web site address or URL will be http://saltspring.gulfislands.com/bgates

Type of Access:  

You will need to specify the method by which you will be updating or accessing the site.

There are two different methods or types of access which can be used to administer and update your web site:

  1.  FTP  - this is the oldest and more difficult of the two, but you can access lots of information on its use and operation by clicking here

  2.  FrontPage. -   Select "FrontPage" access if you have MS FrontPage 1.0, MS FrontPage 97 or MS FrontPage 98 or MS FrontPage 2000.  

 NB: Microsoft has caused a lot of confusion by bundling a free web editor with Internet Explorer called FrontPage Express.   This is not the same as MS FrontPage.  If you will be using FrontPage Express or any other editor you must select FTP here

Web Producers:    

You need to specify the username(s) of the individual(s) who will be administering and maintaining the web site.  Since most individuals maintain their own site this field will usually contain the same information as the Owner's Username field from above.

If you do not know what a username is click here or see the example below.  Do not enter a full name or attempt to make up a new username.

If your Web Producer is an Imagen Customer: 

If the web producer already has an account at Imagen.  Specify their Imagen username here . 


If the Web Producer is not an Imagen Customer: 

Only fill out if you wish to specify a webproducer who is not already an Imagen client please enter their details here. This will incur a setup fee as we have to establish a new account. (details)

Step 3:  Comments
The comments field is provided for you to enter any other information that you wish to add that is not covered by any of the above fields.  This is also the best place for you to ask any questions that you might have regarding any aspect of your web space.

The web site owner will receive notification via e-mail as soon as the site has been activated. Activation usually is completed  within 2 - 4 business days.
