Opening a FrontPage Web on our FrontPage Web Server with FrontPage 98

This page last updated on 03/16/01
Step 1:  Connect to the Internet

Step 2:  Open Front Page

The default location for starting FP98 is "Start, Programs, Microsoft Front Page."   Previous versions of FP created their own folders on the start menu so look for that if the above does not apply.  Either way it should be pretty self explanatory on how to launch FP.

Step 3:  Getting Started

If you have previously opened your site on our server, then it will appear in the list.  If you have not, click on "More Webs."

Step 4:  Open FrontPage Web

We offer FrontPage web access on all of our domains.  If you have already accessed our server then you will be able to select it from the drop down box.   If you have not yet accessed our server you will need to type in the drop down list your website domain name.   For example if you website address is "www.saltspring.com/test" then your domain name would be  "www.saltspring.com."  If you web site address is "www.artcrystal.net" your domain name would be "www.artcrystal.net."   After selecting your domain click on "List Webs."   Typically the domain name will be either "www.saltspring.com" or "www.gulfislands.com.'

Step 5:  Select Your Web Site

Scroll through the list of web sites until you find the one you want to open.  Your site name should be self-explanatory.  In most cases the site name will be your last name followed by your first name.  In this case "Banister, Simon."   After you've selected your site click "OK."  Do not worry about other's being able to access your site for the purpose of authoring or administration.  When we setup your website we give author permission to only those accounts that you want, usually the owner.

Step 6:  Username and Password

The last step is to enter your "Username and Password."  This is the same username and password that you use to access the internet for dialup, mail and ftp.  In this case "anu."  After entering the proper information click "OK."  Once you've entered the proper username and password you should see a screen similar to the one below.
